oh don't worry. i'm not seriously considering a royal kidnapping scheme. i just WANT to because honestly, it doesn't get much better than this in my book. i don't understand how they can be so amazing! the only thing i want them to do -- open a boutique with everything under $40 and still obtaining the same fabulosity as the runway duds do.

fall 2006 rtw -- balenciaga again reinvented itself from edgy romantic to futuristic equestrian. i love the riding helmets and nautical inspiration of these jewel-toned minis. balenciaga also has a modern take on the classic riding boot, adding platformed heels and shapely indents.

spring 2007 rtw -- this is by far one of my favorite spring 2007 collections. i love how extreme it is. it's playing up the metallic trend with everything metallic and futuristic. although it seems unattainable, balenciaga's spring line is there for much-needed inspiration.

ever since the luella for target line, i've been obsessed with luella. too bad i can't afford it because if i could, i'd be draped in head-to-toe luella. i love the bright, fun and young feel of her clothes. and her name is absolutely amazing (thank you mr. and mrs. bartley). luella has captured the playful sophisticate and her clothes can be worn dressed up or down.

spring 2006 rtw -- i'm in love with this collection! the menswear-inspiration is done so well and so new -- none of that boring straight-from-his-closet stuff. the plastic accessories are very refreshing and the english schoolgirl vibe is surprisingly new.

yes finally i'm on vacation! no more books (except i have to finish great expectations), no more tests (well, i do have one the tuesday we get back), no more essays (i have two, actually due after vacation) and no more annoying percussion section leader who i can't tell if he's kidding or just being a complete ass. i'm truly excited for vacation!

things that suck:

my dad broke 6 ribs skiing MLK weekend so when he does come this weekend to new hampshire he can't ski
my sister can't come with us because she just went to florida today with her crew team for a training trip
i'll be living in my sweats and ae trapper hat for the next week
my ski coat makes me feel like a fatso marshmellow
the goggles that fit over my glasses crush my nose in so i can't breathe too well out of that
my wallet is going to have a hard time catching up with all the things i want for spring and etc
my mom thinks that the lame american apparel leggings are "the ugliest things she's ever seen". great. now i have no chance of getting them

things that don't suck:

my mom will no longer be stressed about the travel plans for my sister's crew trip

i can finally ski my little brains out and sleep as much as i please
according to the attitash website, they got 19inches of FRESH powder on wednesday!!! we got about 8 here in MA so that should be wonderful

my history teacher told us today that money represents faith. "you know how on the dollar it says 'IN GOD WE TRUST'? well, the only thing money is is faith that there's something behind it. it's not actually worth anything." so this really drepressed me because how can something you want so badly actually be worth nothing? perplexing, isn't it?

diane von furstenberg is definitely my favorite spring 07 rtw collection! i love the bright prints and bold colors. although some of it was a bit too psychadelic for me, she provided options. she didn't say "only people with this style can wear my clothes". she left it up to the person's style to define the fashion.

this is my favorite! it's so wearable, whether paired with flats, sandals or heels.

first i'll go through my recent purchases (which i am quite in love with, by the way. unfortunately, i am lacking outfit ideas for them). okay!

this is acutally a nightgown from anthropologie. i'll be wearing it as a dress. i already wore it last friday to the GSA benefit coffee house concert at my school over a printed delias thermal, skinny jeans and gray vans. it will be GREAT for spring! it's a tad see-through on the skirt but that can be fixed with leggings.

i got that skirt i talked about last post for spring trends! yes!!! also anthropologie. i convinced my mom that i'll wear it normally (because i will) with flats or sandals and i'll wear it for easter (like we dress up for easter) and other events such as those. ooh! i could also wear it for my sister's graduation, although i think i'll have to wear my band uniform, seeing as the band plays at it. won't that be comfortably polyester.

i went to target today with my mom and i love the new proenza stuff! not all of the things i wanted were there, but oh well. naturally i tried everything on (13 items in total when i went to the dressing room) but i only ended up with two things. i'm ordering a dress online that they didn't have in my size. i love the fit of this tee -- it's baggy and wonderfully soft! i love the rolled-up sleeves. after reading the newest teen vogue cover to cover yesterday, i have a new-found obsession with tees. i'm planning on going to ac moor or macy's (hanes) and buying a bunch of basic ones and making them cool. i'd like to do the GEEK! thing from luella's spring line. she had some great tees in that collection. more inspiration!

in person, i was afraid thsi sweater would be itchy and wool-like, but when i felt how soft and comfy it is, i fell in love! it's big and has a manly fit but i'll wear it over tanks with dainty skirts and flats. it's a great neutral print! i was hoping to get the dress with this same palm print i'd seen in the ads, but they didn't have it in the store. perhaps i can order it. oh great! out of stock. thanks target

merona wanetta anklestrap comfort wedge $22.99

the picture online does not do this wedge justice! they're not nearly as yellow. it's so much cuter in person, and it's got all the things i look for in a shoe -- comfort, cuteness and affordability! at $23, i don't feel bad having my mom pay for these! i've been looking for a wedge that's not too high and is similar to the kork-ease wedges i've been eyeing for so long. i love these and they'll go great with skinnies or tights layered under shorts.

i also got a pair of really comfy, perfectly fitting leopard print flats for $14.99, black opaque tights, black ribbed tights and pucci-inspired printed tights, all at $5.99. so it was a great shopping experience. all i wish was that they had the dresses in my size. i'll just order them online.

again, you're probably wondering why the title is so deceiving. fear not, my friends! fear not! i've decided that it would be fun to put my iTunes library on random and to make outfits inspired by the first ten songs that come up. this should be interesting.

of course skinny pants and jeans are the talk of all worthy fashionistas, myself included. although i do not happen to fit the term "skinny" with my size 8 waist on a good day, i still don my skinny jeans quite frequently (i know, a fashion don't, as some of you would term it).

celebrities like kate moss, nicole richie, mischa barton and other fashionable starlets are often credited with starting the skinny trend (pant sillohuettes and waistlines included).

skinnies used to be for the fashion-daring. now, go into any mainstream chain store and you'll find skinny and bootcut jeans side-by-side.

take american eagle, for instance. before the skinny became the new black, they only sold the classic bootcut and flared jeans. the skinny 77 stretch jean is a pretty good mimic of this season's biggest (or skinniest, should i say) trend. and at a mere $50, your average high schooler can be just as chic as the starlets.

my favorite thing about skinny jeans is the way they make me feel. it's like throwing on jeans and a t-shirt suddenly became cool and chic. you can wear ANYTHING with them and you'll still look amazing without trying too hard. let's try some combinations, shall we? using those ae skinnies:

hopefully that gave you some idea of how to wear your skinnies. a big trend is voluminous tunics and tops. and it's okay to wear your dresses over your second-skin jeans! if you're really daring, you might even try a mini skirt. you really can wear any shoes with skinnies. flip flops tend to look a big awkward so opt for a more structured flat sandal. i love wearing flats, vans and old school sneakers with mine. or, if you're going out, pair dark wash skinny jeans with platform pumps. the stars prefer christian louboutin but to get that amazing look and same red sole, try oh! deer. or tuck your jeans into boots!

the newest trend in skinny jeans (yes, there is a trend within a trend) is hues straight from the crayone box! this is my FAVORITE trend for spring! and, luckily, urban outfitters and delias are stocking a ton of them!

skinnies are what you make them, no matter what people tell you. anyone can wear them. the trick with skinnies now is not to look like a middle school clone. whatever you wear, work it.

i don't know why but i have this sudden infatuation for the marc jacobs stam bag. i was shopping yesterday at bloomingdales and i saw it from afar. of course, i could not help myself but to run over and explain to my sister "this is THE bag! this is it!"

seeing all these clearly stylish people with the stam, you know it's a big deal. and how about the model it's named for? jessica stam? on style.com there are 865 photos of her on the catwalk. gorgeous photos, might i add.

at $1275, i won't be purchasing the stam bag at any point in my lifetime

come on people! do you really think i could afford the GORGEOUS marc by marc wedges? come on people! get real! $295!!! i CANNOT afford that! and the heel is 3.75" high! oh goodness i'd be a towering 6'! ahhhhh too high!

but, thankfully, i found an alternative:

at $25.50, i could get almost TWELVE pairs instead of just one marc by marc pair! doesn't say how high they heel and platform are. that's annoying. i'm thinking of making a purchase...

jeffery campbell "park" pump $79.95

you probably approve of these more. they look more chic and less tacky when compared to the alloy ones. they're 2.25" high with a 1" platform at the toes. that's a good height for my 5'8" frame! but the price. i'll have to see how much money i have left over from christmas.

i've been eyeing quite a lot lately and the only problem is, the list is so long but my pocket is not.

crocs "prima ballet" slip on $30

i know, i know. crocs are a poor excuse for shoes but really, how can you pretend you're not secretly in love with these? unlike your normal flats, these are garunteed not to give you blisters. and you won't slip! you can wear them in the rain and mud and they won't get ruined at all!

kork-ease leather wedge, $155 and $175

after seeing these in the july 2006 issue of teen vogue, i instantly wished i wore wedges more. these kork-ease circa 1970 are definitely the best thing to come into my fantasy fashion world (yes, i have one and i know you have one, too) since dresses. these chunky wedges are SO versatile i can't even stand it! in fall, you can wear them with tights. nix the tights for spring and summer and you're good to go! too bad this is a bit out of my pricerange if i'm looking to purchase at least three things with my christmas money.

i went to bloomingdales today and i saw these. again, i wished i wore more wedges. i instantly fell in love! these patent wedges would work with so much of the clothes i already have! instead of wearing my usual red ballet flats with my dress-leggings combo, i could throw these on and feel instantly chic (insta-chic, if you will). i am honestly infatuated with these shoes but too bad they're completely out of the price range.
FINAL SAY: although my love is deeper than my pockets for these "insta-chic" shoes, i cannot afford them.

i also went to j.crew today. these gorgeous cord shorts are a steep $78 but, again, so versatile! i can see myself wearing these every season of the year! i love them in navy and how cute would they look with the kork-ease wedges and a bright sweater (candy-hued, perhaps?).

my sister just got this and i'm so jealous of her! the adorable flower print is just what i was hoping for for spring and it's almost like another neutral! add a long-sleeve tee, jeans and flats and this cami is winter-ready. perfect with yellow bermudas and metallic sandals, i'll want to live in this all summer!
